Day 1 – We start our trip in central London, enjoying both birds and the sights. We will provide several different itineraries for you to pick from and explore this vibrant city. First time visitors may wish to chose more of a sightseeing itinerary and returning visitors maybe ready to jump right into the gardens and wetlands in order to start their birding immediately. Accommodation is near Hyde Park offering many dinner (or if you can stay awake even theatre) options.
Day 2 – We are still in London today and so once again there are a couple of optional itineraries depending on whether it is the sights or the birds that you prefer to focus on. With so much to see
it is hard to choose.
Day 3 - Now we leave London and head to Cambridge – enroute we will bird in some of England’s wonderful countryside

and stop at our first real country pub for lunch. Then onwards (with more birding) to Cambridge to enjoy more of this country’s incredible history.
Day 4 – A reasonably early start will take us to a wetlands close by to Cambridge for a great birding day and then return mid afternoon to explore more of Cambridge (you may even wish to try your hand at punting on the Cam!)
Day 5 - Today we head to the north Norfolk coast which offers not only some of Europe’s best birding but also some of the most beautiful villages and countryside. We will stop enroute to get some specific species and then continue to our first accommodation in Norfolk which is a wonderful pub right on the coast.

Day 6 – Early morning for a full day’s birding along Norfolk’s rugged coast line, taking advantage of the many hides that are in this area. Later in the afternoon we will head into the local town for some sightseeing and a wander round some of the quaint stores. Back to the pub to sleep.
Day 7 – Another morning’s birding on the coast, followed by lunch at the local stately home at Holkam and then a boat trip for seals and seabirds in the afternoon. We will move our accommodation slightly west along the coast to the town of Blakeney. |

Day 8 – Today we will bird in land to focus more on passerines, also enjoying the woodlands and villages in the area – plus a stop at the locally famous scope store, Cley Spey ( hold onto your credit cards!). There is also a glass blowing factory nearby that some may wish to visit.
Day 9 – Today is a full day’s birding at one of England’s best RSPB reserves before our final night on the Norfolk coast

Day 10 Heading north now we will stop at our first sea bird colony before ending up in York, possibly one of England’s most interesting historic towns, where we will stay for 2 nights
Day 11 There is an option today for those who wish to spend the whole day in York. For others we will head to a 2nd seabird colony, returning later in the day in time for a little sightseeing around town.
Day 12
– Now we move on towards Scotland. Once again we will stop for some specific species enroute before arriving at a beautiful hotel in Abernathy where we will use local guides to assist us in our Scottish Highlands part of the trip. |

Day 13 – 16
We remain in Scotland visiting several different habitats, the timing of which will depend on recent sightings. This is a truly stunning part of the world – what with fabulous birds, wonderful countryside, great pubs and Scottish hospitality we may never leave!
Day 17
- We head west to an island off the coast of Scotland for 3 days on the Isle of Islay. The ferry ride itself will offer some great birding opportunities. The island is a beautifully peaceful location where we will stay right on the harbor.
Day 18
- Today we use a local birding guide to give us a tour of
the island and introduce us to the best spots for birds. We
will enjoy a picnic in the peace of this island and continue
to add to our bird list. |

Day 19 – Weather depending, we may take a pelagic trip or take this as a rest day for all to enjoy the beauty of this little haven.
Day 20 – The ferry back to the mainland is the beginning of our trip home. Depending on flight plans or onward itineraries transportation links can be set up to take people to their next destination.
Although our final itinerary may vary slightly, the overall structure will remain the same. The intention being to maximize the number of bird species we all get to observe, while also including opportunities to see the sights and experience the country.
We hope you will join us. Both England and Scotland have so much to offer – the combination of history, landscapes, birds and culture makes this a memorable trip – not to mention the pub food & fayre!!!
NOTES:
Price: $3850 per person, based on double occupancy. (Excludes, travel costs to England, meals and alcohol )
We would rate this trip easy in terms of physical exertion..
